The Marist Junior Robotics Group.

Slice of history for Marist in Robotics competition

Both Marist Junior and Senior Robotics groups have been busy in the last number of weeks. The Juniors travelled to Portlaoise, where they took part in the Junior VEX IQ Robotics competition. One of the teams, Team Nexus Nuggets qualified for the national competition, with the other Marist team, Team Aura, just missing out in the last minute, having been top of the table all day.

The Seniors recently travelled to ATU Galway to compete in the VEXV5 competition. They also impressed judges and progressed to the national finals. They also came away with two top awards of ‘Excellence’ and ‘Design’.

This is the first time that a school has qualified both Junior and Senior teams to the National Finals in their first year of entry to the competition. As the qualifying results stand, Marist College is the only school from Westmeath to progress to the National Finals which will take place in Cork in May.
