Additional SEN class allocated for Athlone
An additional special education provision has been announced for Athlone today, Monday, February 9, with confirmation that St. Mary’s Primary School will receive a further special educational needs class under Tranche 3 of the Department of Education’s allocation.
This latest announcement follows the confirmation of one special class for St. Mary’s NS under an earlier tranche, meaning the school will now benefit from two additional special classes in total.
Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran said the expanded allocation is a significant and positive development for families in the area.
“I warmly welcome today’s announcement of additional special classes for Athlone. The confirmation of a further class for St. Mary’s Primary School under Tranche 3 is particularly important, and it builds on the progress already made earlier.”
Deputy Moran added: “These additional classes will make a real difference to children with additional needs and their families by improving access to appropriate educational supports closer to home.
"I will continue to engage with the Minister and the Department of Education to ensure Athlone receives its fair share of resources.”
