Online registration to open for Athlone Athletics Club races

Online registration for the annual Athlone Athletics Club half marathon and 10km races will open to the public this Saturday, February 14, at 12pm.

This year's event takes place on Sunday, September 20, at 10am, with both races starting and finishing on the TUS Athlone Campus running track.

This will be the fourth staging of the event which continues to grow in popularity with the two distances selling out to participants within weeks of online entry opening to the public last year.

Over 600 participants participated in the 2025 event with the predominantly greenway based route offering an ample opportunity to achieve personal best times as it is mainly flat in duration.

The half marathon is perfectly timed for runners preparing for the Dublin City Marathon and other autumn races.

The event is also a fitting tribute to the late Brian Garvey, a lecturer at Athlone Institute of Technology, which is now known Technological University of the Shannon.
