Athlone Town FC to go 'cashless' at its home stadium

Athlone Town FC has announced that cash payments will no longer be accepted at its stadium.

The League of Ireland club said in a statement today (Wednesday, February 11) the decision has been taken 'in order to operational improve efficiency and financial governance'.

The decision will apply to all match ticketing, the on-site food truck, shop and merchandise sales at the stadium on matchdays, where card and mobile payments will be accepted.

“We kindly ask supporters to pre-book match tickets online in advance to reduce delays on arrival. Please support us as we aspire to operate the club in a highly efficient and professional manner,” the statement read.

Athlone Town's senior men's team kick-off their League of Ireland First Division season at home against Finn Harps on Friday evening (7.45pm), while the senior women's side return to competitive action when they face Shelbourne in the 2026 President's Cup at the Athlone Town Stadium on Sunday, March 8 (2pm).
