Joe Ward of Athlone Boxing Club wins his fourth Leinster schoolboy title

A promising young talent from Athlone Boxing Club, Joe Ward, earned his fourth Leinster gold medal when the finals were held in Athy last weekend.

The teenager is the eldest son of professional light heavyweight Joe Ward, and won gold at 52kg in the 'boy 4' (under-15) age category.

The Moate native became Leinster champion as a result of two good wins at the provincial stage, and he will now go on to compete at the national championships in Dublin in March.
