"It's madness": Tubber's Megan excited for live Glór Tíre semi-final

Tubber singer Megan O’Hara is preparing to take to the stage live as she competes in the semi-final of Glór Tíre on TG4 on Tuesday, March 3.
Speaking to the Offaly Independent, Megan described her experience on the show so far as “madness but in the best possible way".
“It’s absolute madness, but it’s going great so far. It’s a great platform for people to start their journey, especially in the country music scene,” she said.
While the first four episodes of the popular country music competition were pre-recorded last November, everything from this week onward is live.
“The semi-final on March 3 will be live as well, and that’s when I’ll need the public vote,” Megan said.
Although no stranger to performing, Megan admits there will still be nerves on the night.
“I would be a little bit nervous. It’s quite a long day, which is great in a way, because you get over the nerves fairly quick,” she said.
Looking beyond the competition, Megan hopes the show will give her music career a further boost. She currently performs in a band called The Band Sí alongside her mother, Moate native Teresa.
“I’m in a band with my mother and we hope to keep that going after the show. It’s unfortunate we can’t be on the show together, but it’s a great way to launch the two of us singing together. Win or lose, it’s just a great thing to be on.”
She added that her mother is immensely proud to see her on national television.
“She’s been asking me for years to start the band with her. I said I might as well just go all out this year and apply for Glór Tíre, and somehow I got on, so I’m delighted," she said
“I’m just happy to be there at the minute, but if I even got to the final, it’d be a huge bonus!"
Megan said the support she has received from her local community and beyond has been overwhelming.
“It’s massive. I can’t believe the support. People I’ve never met before, people who might have known my family – I’ve got to know so many different people. I can’t believe the kind words people are showing lately. It’s out of this world.
“I have to thank literally everyone. The support and encouragement have been overwhelming in the best way possible. I never expected this level of support, and I’m thrilled to be part of something like this.”
The Glór Tíre semi-final airs live on TG4 on Tuesday, March 3 from 9.30pm, with voting lines open for a limited time during the show.
