Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna returns to Dean Crowe stage

The 58th Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna, Áth Luain will take place in the Dean Crowe Theatre from Tuesday, March 10, to Thursday, March 12,

There is one evening performance commencing at 7pm on Tuesday and two matinées on Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 10am.

This year’s Féile Ceoil will be officially opened on Tuesday, March 10, by the talented local musicians Bernard and Patrice Coyle, no strangers to the Dean Crowe Theatre!

Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna is a festival of music, song, drama and dance that is non-competitive, with primary school children from schools in Athlone and across the midlands invited to take part.

The aim of the Féile is to promote Irish music, song and dance, while embracing the many other cultures and traditions that are now an integral part of our schools. The Féile Ceoil enables schools and families to share in and enjoy the performances of their own schools as well as other school groups.

The Féile Ceoil is organised by a voluntary committee of teachers, retired teachers and a former education inspector. The children are prepared in school by their teachers, music teachers and special needs assistants. Parents play an active role in preparing and supporting their children for the performances.

Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna gratefully acknowledge Westmeath County Council Arts Grant, Athlone Education Centre and INTO Comhar Linn for their support.
