Christmas tractor run in Athlone raises €600 for local charities
A festive tractor run held in Athlone before Christmas raised €600 which has now been distributed to two local charities.
The Athlone Agri Show Christmas Tractor Run, in aid of St Hilda's Special School and the local Meals on Wheels service, took place on Sunday, November 30, to coincide with the switching on of the town's Christmas lights.
The participating tractors, which donated a registration fee of €20, departed from Athlone Town Stadium on the evening in question, with prizes on offer for the best-decorated tractor.
Athlone Agri Show representatives recently donated cheques of €300 each to Athlone Meals on Wheels and St Hilda’s Special School.
This year's Athlone Agri Show will take place on Sunday, June 21, on the farm of Michael O'Donohoe at Garnafeilagh, Athlone (Eircode: N37 V252).
