Over €3,500 raised for upgrade of Shannonbridge playground facilities
Over €3,500 has been raised for the upgrade of Shannonbridge playground facilities.
The playground, which was originally opened in 2010, suffered damage during Storm Eowyn in January 2025, which led to the immediate closure of the facility.
Now, a GoFundMe page has been set up with the goal of re-opening the playground.
To date, a total of €3,550 has been raised of the €10,000 goal from some 64 donations.
"The playground was a pivotal amenity in the community and was used by children of all ages from surrounding towns and villages. The playground was also a great attraction for tourists visiting our village," Jim Killeen, organiser of the fundraiser.
"We are now commencing our rebuild and we hope to have the playground open as soon as possible with your support. Consultations and ground works have commenced with the necessary bodies, and the fund raising goal now begins."
