Inflatable play area earmarked for Center Parcs

Only in operation less than a year, Center Parcs is already looking to add to its facilities at the Longford Forest holiday village, a short distance from Ballymahon.

What's planned is an inflatable floating play area on the existing lake in the centre of the resort to include water slides, inflatable platforms, inflatable logs and climbing frames.

The second element, adjacent to this, is a “prefab changing facility” to be constructed in an “unused area beside the apartment building,” according to the planning documents, which will include showers and toilets.

The new development is referred to as an “aqua park” in the planning application documents lodged with Longford County Council on April 1.

At end of July last year, the €233 million holiday resort opened for business boasting hundreds of self-catering lodges set amongst 400 acres of woodland to cater for over 2,500 guests during each short break.

The village already offers over 100 activities for young and old, including the much talked about Subtropical Swimming Paradise, Ireland’s largest indoor water park heated at over 29 degrees all year around. An inflatable aqua park would certainly add to this enviable list of attractions should it get the go ahead.

A decision is expected from Longford County Council by May 26 next.
