Clerical appointments announced in Elphin Diocese

The Bishop of Elphin, Christopher Jones has announced a number of local clerical changes in the diocese which spans parts of counties Roscommon, Sligo, Westmeath and Galway. Popular Drum-based curate Fr Ray Milton, who has been in the parish for 15 years moves to nearby Knockcroghery as parish priest, while Fr Michael McManus, previously based in Castlerea, and a native of St Coman's Park, Athlone moves to South Roscommon in his place. Fr Donal Morris, a curate who was ministering in Lecarrow now becomes an administrator in Ahascragh in East Galway as part of the changes and Fr John Coughlan, who spent time in St Peter and Paul's parish in Athlone, before moving to become Chaplain in Sligo IT, relocates to Roscommon town where he take up curate duties. Finally, Athlone-based cleric Fr Vincent McDevitt relocates to Caltra in East Galway where he will take up residence as a curate. The Elphin Diocesan Office said the changes officially came into effect on August 6 last.
