Classrooms approved for Cornafulla NS
Such is the rate of enrolment in Cornafulla NS that two additional classrooms have been sanctioned for the school, on top of an ongoing €1.5m extension. Confirming the allocation Minister for Housing and Local Services Michael Finneran said: "I secured the €1.5 million for the large extension for Cornafulla National School which I announced on November 9. The Board of Management contacted me in February 2010 stating due to the large enrolment the school, the school required two additional classrooms in addition to the 5 classrooms sanctioned in November 2009. The Board of Management were anxious for the Department of Education & Science to approve this further request while the Contractors Cordil were on site" "Following strong representations from the Board of Management and myself to my colleague Batt O'Keeffe, former Minister for Education and Science, I am delighted to be in a position to announce the sanction of two additional classrooms. The request for these additional classrooms is due to the ever growing population in the Cornafulla area and its environs." "These newly sanctioned additional classrooms will coincide with the current works as announced by me last November 2009" "I wish the Chairman of the Board of Management Fr Ray Milton and Principal John Conway, teachers, pupils, continued success with this projec,t" concluded Minister Finneran T.D.
