Church of Ireland services in Athlone to return this Sunday
Public services at St Mary's Church of Ireland, on Church Street, Athlone, will return this Sunday following a break of sixteen weeks.
"The service will be the familiar morning prayer service, but it won't be Church as we know it," said Rev William Steacy, Rector of the Athlone union of parishes (pictured above).
"A lot of preparations are being made at the moment to make sure we adhere to all the public health protocols to make the building a safe place for people to gather.
"I hope those parishioners who are comfortable about coming out again will find our worship a meaningful and an uplifting experience.
"I do hope in the foreseeable future to continue to put up short services online so that those who as yet don't feel the time is right to return to public worship can still participate at home," said Rev Steacy.
