Death announced of popular local man and prominent campaigner
The death has occurred of Gordon Hudson of Barrymore.
Mr Hudson, Hudson Lodge, Barrymore, Athlone, and late of Bloomfield Drive, Athlone, died suddenly on Thursday, October 8.
Predeceased by his parents Richard and Violet and his brother Derek, he is sadly missed by his loving wife Geraldine, daughter Alison, sons Damien, Wesley and Alan, brother David, sisters Irene and Jean, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren Rachael, Calum, Isabella, Mia, Tori, Reece, Ethan and Kayden, nephews, nieces, in-laws, relatives and many friends.
Gordon was prominent in the anti household charge campaign in the early part of the last decade and contested the 2014 local elections in the Athlone electoral area of Roscommon as an independent
Due to Covid-19 restrictions and by adhering to government guidelines, a private family funeral will take place for Gordon for family members only.
The family would like if anyone would like to line the road on Pearse Street at 10.50am on Monday as a mark of respect for Gordon as funeral cortege will be arriving at SS Peter & Paul's at 11am for Funeral Mass.
