Five artists 'Together As One' for Athlone exhibition

Following lengthy periods in which access to various forms of the arts has been either absent or restricted, five local artists are excited to share a collection of their creative work with the public, in the beautiful surroundings of Savoury Fare, Fernhill.

Reuniting artists Jackie Eastwood, Tina Elliffe, Rosemarie Langtry, Ursula Ledwith and Dee McKiernan, the “Together as One” exhibition presents a rich diversity of talent and creativity. Each artist is exhibiting work which displays their own unique style, using a variety of media and techniques. The range of styles and subjects on display means that there will surely be something to interest, uplift or delight all visitors.

When asked about the inspiration for her art, Jackie Eastwood says: “A love of nature provides the inspiration for much of my work. Experimentation and the use of vibrant acrylics combine to create characterful and unique individual artworks”.

Tina Elliffe works with encaustic wax, oil, acrylic and acrylic pour with resin. Much of Tina’s recent work has been influenced by the isolation, confusion and sense of the unknown arising from the lockdowns and pandemic.

Rosemarie Langtry delights in textures, layers, digging, burying, and the process of making, doing, and using her hands. Rosemarie’s work is inspired and influenced by rusty, found items with a history, marks made by nature, recycled material, cardboard, the landscape and materials in her surroundings.

Longford-born Ursula Ledwith draws inspiration for her art from her surroundings and from old tales. She has exhibited in several galleries and enjoys both displaying her art and meeting those who visit the exhibitions.

Roscommon artist Dee McKiernan’s work is influenced by the natural and built environment, as well as from the stories, memories and histories of our ancestors. Ireland’s myths, legends, ancient monuments, bogs, seashores, lakes, trees and wildlife all inform Dee’s work.

All of the art on display will be for sale, providing an opportunity for you to purchase a unique and beautiful piece of art for yourself or as a special gift. The artists would like to express their sincere thanks to the management and staff of Savoury Fare and Fernhill Garden Centre for helping to bring this collection of work to the public and for their support for the arts.
