At the forefront of international best practice
Our Lady’s Bower said it is privileged to have been one of a handful of schools nationwide selected to participate in a collaborative international project, focused on sharing international best practice between Ireland and the Netherlands.
On Wednesday, September 20, Our Lady’s Bower welcomed a large group of teachers from Slingerbos School in the Netherlands, to observe teaching practices and share expertise regarding what constitutes best practice in education. The specific focus of the Dutch visit was centred around CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) a dual-focused approach to teaching whereby an additional language to English is used in the delivery of subject content.
This visit comes at a time when Minister for Education Norma Foley has issued an invitation for post-primary schools in Ireland to engage in a pilot programme for Content and Language Integrated Learning, and Our Lady’s Bower is proud to have already been at the forefront of introducing cutting-edge teaching practices to the Irish education system.
