Successful community clean up event in Brawny
Last week Brawny residents held a very successful clean up of their estate.
Quite a number of volunteers, including children from the estate, participated in a litter pick in very cold conditions.
The newly formed committee have organised a number of recent events, including a Halloween party, a visit from Santa at Christmas and now it has started litter pick events.
Local councillor John Dolan, who has been involved in helping the new group get started, praised the work of the group.
"For a number of years there was no residents group in Brawny, so last year I helped organise a meeting where a committee was formed to make a start at trying to improve the estate, and in fairness Westmeath county Council, has helped with some funding and support for litter picks," Cllr Dolan said.
"It is great to see the enthusiasm of the people involved, and from speaking with the council and other agencies, continued support will be given going forward to help make Brawny continue to improve," he added.
