Fab four from Athlone Boxing Club claim All Ireland titles

Athlone Boxing Club celebrated a terrific success at national championships in Dublin over the last week, with four of its boxers winning All Ireland titles.

JP Joyce (Boy 1, 52kg), Joe Ward (Boy 2, 44.5kg), Oisin Donoghue (Boy 4, 85kg) and Tom Stokes (Under-18, 85kg) each won gold in their categories at the National Stadium in Dublin.

And the club has the possibility of adding a fifth All Ireland champion with Joe Joyce in action in the Youth 1, 85kg, final in the week ahead.

The club expressed its pride in the achievements of the local boxers on the national stage.

"All of the lads boxed absolutely brilliantly to win their titles. Well done, we are all so proud of you," said Athlone Boxing Club.

"We can't thank you enough for all the support. This is only the start of big things for the Athlone boxing team

"Well done to the coaches Rory Parkes, Joe Ward, Davie Joyce, and our other volunteers. Amazing work by all the team," it added.
