Man shot in Athlone incident

Gardai are investigating a shooting in Athlone tonight.

A man was shot in the leg at around 9.40pm tonight on Castlemaine Street.

He sought help from a business premises in the area and Gardai were called.

The area is currently sealed off. It's understood the man is not from the Athlone area.

We'll have further details as they emerge.
