A scene from the Dail yesterday.

Dáil suspended after argument broke out

There was a major row in the Dáil yesterday which resulted in Leas Ceann Comhairle Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher suspending proceedings for a number of minutes.

The controversy arose after Kerry TD Danny Healy Rae was speaking on the Programme for Government's commitment to protect farmers. His brother Michael Healy Rae indicated that he wanted to share speaking time and stood up to speak.

This was objected to by Fianna Fail TD Marc MacSharry. The Healy Raes and McSharry then become involved in noisy exchanges with the Leas Ceann Comhairle finally suspending proceedings after the exchanges continued.
