An igloo in Moydrum, Athlone, last week

VIDEOS: A look back at the snow-covered Midlands last week

The Midlands has now fully overcome the effects of last week's severe weather when the so-called 'Beast from the East' and Storm Emma cloaked the country in snow and ice.

Many readers got in touch with photographs and video clips showing the impact of the wintry conditions in Athlone and surrounding areas.

We didn't get to share all of them last week, so here are a couple that you might not have seen.

Sean Hatton in Moydrum, Athlone, sent us a wonderful clip of his daughter, Liadhán, playing the fiddle in an ingloo which was made during the storm.

Liadhán is a seven-year-old Baylin National School pupil and her performance in the igloo was shown at the end of an RTE Nuacht broadcast last weekend:

The Irish Air Corps posted this video showing the snow from above as its air ambulance returned to base at Custume Barracks, Athlone:

And, finally, Niall and William Quinn saw the snow as an opportunity to test their endurance as they took part in the 'snow challenge'.

This clip which was sent in to us shows them having a nice topless lie down in the snow by the Roscommon Road in Athlone!
