Ray D'Arcy Show to broadcast live from Athlone tomorrow

The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTE Radio 1 will visit Athlone tomorrow and will broadcast from the Radisson Blu Hotel.

It's part of the show's tour throughout the Hidden Heartlands, from Athlone to Carrick-on-Shannon and Roscommon and from Galway to Tipperary.

The show has joined forces this summer with Fáilte Ireland, as part of its ‘Yours to Uncover’ new marketing campaign for Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. It will broadcast live from Athlone tomorrow between 3pm and 4.30pm, as part of a full week of broadcasts.

Last week Fáilte Ireland announced its multi-media brand awareness campaign for Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, worth €1 million which will run on TV, outdoor, radio and digital channels, and will revolve around the creative idea ‘Yours to Uncover’.

This week, a television advertisement began airing with new specially-commissioned footage promoting Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.

Fáilte Ireland is encouraging everyone to come out and attend the broadcasts.

Ray will interview some local tourism businesses from the surrounding area and discussing some of the many activities and experiences available to anyone visiting Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands as well as trying some activities himself in the area.

Niall Tracey, Fáilte Ireland’s Director of Marketing, said: “Ray D’Arcy is a fantastic ambassador for Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands and he can really get across to his listeners what Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands is all about and how it captures people’s imagination. Our new advertising campaign focuses on themes of discovery and exploration, and encourages visitors to uncover their unique experience of the natural beauty and treasures of Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.”

He added: “We are hoping that these outside broadcasts will encourage locals to come down to watch the broadcasts in Dromineer, Portumna, Athlone, Carrick-on-Shannon or Lough Key Forest Park, where they can expect to see plenty of festivities, interviews, live music as well as hearing about local tourism highlights. We are encouraging everyone to come on down and join in the fun and discover ways to ‘Uncover’ Ireland’s Hidden Heartland through the airwaves.”

The RTE Radio 1 team have a busy schedule. The show broadcast live from Dromineer yesterday and Portumna Castle today. After the Radisson Blu tomorrow, they will then travel to Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday and Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon on Friday.
