Car stolen while owners slept

Gardai in Athlone have appealed to car owners to secure their keys before going to bed at night after a daring car theft from a house in Sli An Afrinn while the occupants slept.

Between 11.30pm and 6.30am on Friday night/Saturday morning last, a set of car keys was stolen from a house in Sli an Aifrinn when a burglar gained entry to the premises through the front door while the occupants of the house were asleep.
The car was discovered the following day in Roslevin Lawns, and gardai are appealing for anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in either the Sli An Afrinn or the Roslevin Lawns areas of Athlone on Friday or Saturday last to contact them.
Gardai have also asked members of the public to be vigilant about where they leave their car keys overnight. While they strongly advise against bringing the keys upstairs, or to the bedroom where they are sleeping, they have advised that they be left in a secure location, and out of sight of would-be intruders.
