James (Jimmy) Mannion, RIP

The death has been announced of a prominent figure in local GAA and legal circles.

James (Jimmy) Mannion ‘Grove House’, Barrymore, Kiltoom, Athlone, passed away peacefully, in the care of the staff at St Vincent’s Care Centre on Monday last, March 9, after a long illness.

In a Facebook tribute, St Brigid's GAA said Jimmy's name was synonymous with not only St Brigid's but Roscommon GAA having played and managed at both club and county level.

Jimmy has left an imprint on St Brigid's both on and off the pitch that will last forever. He will be dearly missed by his many friends in the GAA family.”

He had been Vice President at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie (Campbell), children Emily and Shane, brothersof Gerry and Alfie, sisters Evelyn and Carmel, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. He is predeceased by his brother T.J.

His remains are reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon today (Wednesday) from 4.30pm to 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning to the Church of the Risen Christ, Ballybay arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards in Kiltoom Cemetery.
