AIT issues advice to students following closure


AIT has closed until March 29 following the announcement by the Taoiseach.
The campus is closed to students and staff and access will be prohibited, the college said.
In a statement at 6pm last night, AIT said: “We have been planning for this eventuality and have drafted up contingency plans to minimise disruption and, more importantly, to ensure a continuity in the educational journey.
“In lieu of classroom-based lectures, our academic staff will provide online learning support via Moodle and upload material in accordance with the academic schedule.
“Library resources are available online to support students and will act as a support to the content provided online by lecturers. 
It said its critical incident management team, led by President Prof Ciarán Ó Catháin, will continue to meet and monitor developments.
“The safety and wellbeing of our campus community remains our highest priority, as does the continuing academic success of our students,” AIT added.
Students are advised to check the AIT website for updates. An update regarding counselling services will be posted on the site in the coming days.
Normal services at the student health centre have also been suspended during the Institute closure. Students with health concerns during the this time are advised to contact their own GP.
International students who have queries or are seeking general advice are asked to contact the institute nurse Laura via via ltully@ait.ie during office hours. An out of hours emergency doctor service is available 6pm-8am & at weekends via telephone 1850 302 702 fees apply to those who do not hold EHC.
AIT Sport is also closed until March 29. This closure includes the AIT International Arena, gym facilities, grass and all weather pitches and outdoor track.
