Plans to install new public lighting for large stretches of Coosan have been warmly welcomed by Cllr Kevin 'Boxer' Moran.

Describing the development as great news, he said, the plans were to install the lighting from the Coosan Point road stretching to the Coosan interchange at SDS.

"It (€55,000) is a considerable amount of money. There are a huge amount of people who walk in that area.

If I had a penny for everytime some rang me about the darkness between Coosan church and SDS, I'd be a rich man," Cllr Moran said welcoming the development which ouldl improve safety for walkers and cyclists in the area.

Director of Services Barry Kehoe commented in his report that the programme of lighting would also provide for new lights on the circular route from the Ballymahon Road to Arcadia and back.
