Athlone CC team wins county public speaking crown

A team from Athlone Community College are this year's Mental Health Public Speaking County Champions having defeated a team from Wilson's Hospital Secondary school last week. The team was made up of Caroline Dowling, Aoife Coyle and Maggie Wallace. They had won through to the county final having previously won the local rounds and they now go through to take on the Offaly champions in the regional final in March.

They spoke on topics as diverse as celebrity culture, storms and rainbows and the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. The ultimate winners of this competition will receive a trip to Brussels and a perpetual trophy.
