Recent Irish Open golf champion Shane Lowry returned to a former workplace recently when he arrived at Martin"s Golf in Golden Island to meet customers and supporters.

The Clara native had worked with Martin"s a number of years ago and owner Niall Martin was delighted to welcome the new professional back to his store.

Shane mingled with customers and golfing enthusiasts during his visit to the shop earlier this month.

Niall said Shane"s recent success would encourage many young people to try golf as a game

'He was here for about one and a half or two hours and signed lots of autographs,' said Niall, who also remarked on Shane"s affable and easygoing personality.
