A quiet night in watching TV certainly paid off for one lucky Mount Temple resident who won a brand new car valued at €18,000 and a cool €7,000 cash last Friday on The Late Late Show.

Maureen Killane of Carnmore, Mount Temple received the all important phone call at the end of the show from host Ryan Tubridy, who told her she was the proud new owner of a Kia Venga MPV, courtesy of Kia Motors with the added bonus of €7,000 in the glove box after she answered a question correctly in the weekly viewer competition.

"I was surprised, I wasn't expecting it," she enthused to the Westmeath Independent in the wake of the exciting win. "If I'm at home I watch it (The Late Late Show) but I wouldn't see it every Friday," she said. "I'm delighted".

With the severe weather keeping huge numbers of people by the fire watching television on Friday night, news of Maureen's win spread quickly in the local area. "I was surprised. Plenty of people rang me in afterwards to wish me well," she commented.

Married to Seamus with three sons Padraig, Peadar and Damien, Maureen agreed a new car is great start to her 2010 and by far her biggest ever competition win. She is now looking forward to taking delivery of her prizes courtesy of Ireland's most popular chat show in the near future.
