Lucky Athlone couple collect EuroMillions jackpot

An Athlone couple yesterday (Thursday) collected the top prize of €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw of Tuesday last.

The National Lottery said the delighted winners collected their prize on Thursday afternoon at National Lottery offices, just in time for the holiday weekend.

The lucky couple, who wish their win to remain private, bought their ticket on the day of the draw (Tuesday, March 26) in Tesco, Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone. The ticket was a €3 Quick Pick selection.

Commenting on how they will spend the winnings, they said: “On many, many things, but particularly, we will put most of it by for our young family. We’d also like to take a holiday because the weather has been so cold in the last few weeks, it would be nice to feel some heat in our bones again’, they smiled.

The lucky wife said that she had ‘almost forgotten to play on Tuesday night and so I nearly missed our chance to win this fantastic prize. Thankfully, it has all worked out and we are both looking forward, with our family, to a really great Easter’, she finished.

National Lottery Easter Millionaire Raffle tickets are also on sale in all National Lottery agent outlets. The top prize of €1,000,000 is up for grabs for the lucky winner of this game on Easter Monday, 1 April 2013.

National Lottery good causes benefit from the sale of all National Lottery games, with one third of all sales (approx) going to fund Beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government.

Since the National Lottery was launched, over €4 billion has been raised for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
