Oxfam seeking goods on Athlone 'donation days'

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday (November 28-30) the Oxfam charity is staging 'donation days' in Athlone during which locals are invited to donate anything they can spare, especially bric-a-brac, accessories, jewellery and books.

The donations can be made at the former Replay unit on Payne's Lane, Athlone, from 10am to 5pm each day.

All donated goods will be sold in Oxfam's Tullamore shop over the busy Christmas period.

Providing goods to the charity can make a positive difference in helping families living in extreme poverty and also those caught up in emergencies such as the recent Philippines typhoon.

In the last few years, donations to Oxfam shops have reduced by up to 40% and stock levels are now critical in many shops.

Before the Christmas period arrives, Oxfam is calling upon the people of Athlone to donate anything they can spare.
