Midlands couple collect 29m lotto win

In the National Lottery offices today (Friday), a delighted Midlands couple collected their Lotto jackpot win of €2,905,586.

The prize was their share of the jackpot from Wednesday, June 10 last. The other share of this jackpot was collected last week by a happy couple from Dun Laoghaire who planned to go on a ‘shopping spree in a Marks and Spencers’ store.

Today’s couple, who wish for their win to remain private, have been playing Lotto online since late 2014:

'I was fed up losing my tickets and forgetting to check them so I decided that playing online was the way to go – and I’m very glad I did,' said the lucky husband over a glass of champagne in National Lottery offices.

'Our numbers were made up of our children’s ages, and a significant family event,' he finished.

Their plans for the win include:

'Looking after our family; and we’d love a really fun family holiday somewhere beautiful like the Seychelles, or the Maldives, somewhere with a private beach! And we’d also like to plan a trip to India,' said the lucky wife.

Tomorrow night’s Lotto jackpot is an estimated €2.5 million.
