Cash stolen during Sean's Bar break in

Over €700 was stolen from Athlone’s most famous pub last week.

Ireland’s oldest hostelry, Sean’s Bar, was targeted for burglary sometime after 4am on Thursday morning, March 3 last according to Gardai.

Although it’s unclear how the entry was gained onto the premises, the door of an office on-site was damaged and €720 cash taken from inside.

Anyone who noticed anything unusual in the vicinity of Sean’s Bar late Wednesday night or into the early hours of Thursday is urged to contact Athlone Garda Station 090 6498550.

Gardai are also looking for the public’s assistance in relation to two other burglaries in the Willow Park area over the weekend.

It appears nothing was taken in either case but both student homes were ransacked.

One break-in happened on Saturday and was discovered Sunday by returning students, while the second occurred sometime between Friday and Sunday last.
