Crime writer Paul Williams talks rural crime in Westmeath

There was a full house for well-known RTÉ presenter Darragh McCullough and renowned crime author Paul Williams who took to the stage for an evening of discussion on the topic of rural crime in Westmeath.

 

The event marked the launch of Mullingar Autos’ stunning new state-of-the-art ŠKODA showroom and Dealer Principal Jim Bourke was in attendance with his family, who had a warm welcome for guests.

 

Joining Darragh and Paul on the panel was Conor O’Leary, Eastern Region Development Officer from Muintir na Tíre, who spoke about the devastating impact that crime and the fear of crime is having on rural communities.

 

While Westmeath crime prevention sergeant with An Garda Síochána, John Connolly, took the opportunity to urge members of the public to get in touch if they are in need of specific security advice in relation to their house or farm.

 

The seminar was the second in a series of ‘Nation Talks’ events hosted by ŠKODA, which are being rolled out across the country to discuss topical issues in suburban and rural Ireland.
