Update: Coastguard now involved in search for missing Damien Donoghue

The Coastguard helicopter is now assisting in the search for missing 28-year-old Damien Donoughue.

The Coastguard helicopter has been assisting gardaí and members of the sub-aqua unit in the search since lunchtime today.

Mr Donoghue, a resident of Belvedere Hills in Mullingar, went missing in the early hours of Sunday morning.

More than 70 people joined in the search yesterday for the 28-year-old who is well known from working in Bloomfield Hotel's Leisure Centre in Mullingar.

Gardaí and members of the sub-aqua unit were also involved in the operation yesterday and will be deployed again today.

Mr Donoghue went missing in the early hours of Sunday morning having been socialising with friends in Mullingar on Saturday night.

Gardaí say he took a taxi from Mullingar to Athlone and was last seen near the Crescent junction around 2.30am on Sunday morning in Athlone town.
