The weekend is here, yay! Maybe you already have your plans in place, but if not take a look at our five top things to do this weekend:

A NIGHT OF MUSIC
Jack L appears at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday, August 12. Tickets are €20 and doors open at 8.30pm.

Catch Storylines at Luan
If you haven’t had the chance to catch the Luan Gallery’s summer exhibition ‘Storylines’, you have a few days yet as the exhibition runs until Sunday, August 14.  It features four contemporary artists: painter Gordon Farrell; stained glass artist Peadar Lamb; and graphic art duo James and Micheal Fitzgerald - “the project twins”. The expo looks at narratives in art by presenting an array of artworks with varying levels of storytelling and translation.

Tullamore Show & AIB National Livestock Show takes place this Sunday, August 14. It is the premier livestock show in Ireland and attracts breeders of quality cattle and sheep from all over the country. It is Ireland’s largest one-day show.

COMMUNITY GAMES
In association with HSE, the Community Games Annual Festival takes place in Athlone IT across two weekends in August. Over 7,000 children, aged from 6 to 16, will be taking part. The weekends are August 12-14 and August 19-21.

Try your hand at tennis
Ever wanted to try your hand at tennis? Now’s your chance as Athlone Tennis Club is holding an adult open day on Sunday, August 14, from 11am to 2pm. This is an opportunity for adults to visit the club and sample a game of tennis. Coaches will be on hand to answer questions and deliver advice if necessary. Refreshments will be served.
