Body recovered in search for Damien Donoghue

A body has been recovered in the search for missing Westmeath man Damien Donoghue.
The discovery was made yesterday (Thursday) evening.
The Coastguard helicopter was called in to assist in the search effort yesterday afternoon.
Mr Donoghue (28) had been missing from his home in Belvedere Hills in Mullingar since the early hours of Sunday morning. Gardai say he took a taxi from Mullingar to Athlone and was last seen near the Crescent junction around 2.30am on Sunday morning in Athlone town.
Yesterday evening local TD, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran said his thoughts were with the family and thanked all those who had assisted with the search effort.
In a post on his Facebook page he said: “Thanks to all involved again today in the search for Damien. There was a great turnout out of local volunteers working in conjunction with the local angling club, Air Corp, Garda divers, all the midland sub aqua clubs including Athlone, Lough Ree, Roscommon, Longford, Shannonside and Mullingar and the Gardai.”
