Traffic disruption following four car crash

There was major traffic disruption on one of the main approach roads into Athlone this morning following a four car accident.

Two cars either side of the junction close to the Colm Quinn BMW garage on Ballymahon Road were rearended according to Gardai, causing considerable traffic delays in the early morning peak rush hour. The incident happened sometime around 8.30am this morning.

One person was brought to hospital as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.

The site has now been cleared and traffic is running as normal again.
