New Roscommon football manager John Evans ... Gay Sheerin and Walter Burke have been appointed to his backroom team.

Sheerin and Burke named as Roscommon selectors

Gay Sheerin and Walter Burke have been appointed as selectors under new Roscommon senior football manager John Evans. A third selector is to be appointed at a later stage. "At last night's meeting of Roscommon GAA County Board Walter Burke of St. Faithleach's and Gay Sheerin of St. Ronan's were confirmed as two of John Evans' selectors. A third selector will be appointed at a later date," said a statement from the Roscommon County Board. Sheerin was a long-serving goalkeeper with Roscommon and he went on to manage his county in the 1990s. Burke guided St Faithleach's to Roscommon SFC final appearances in 2005 and 2006 - the Ballyleague side lost to St Brigid's on both occasions. Burke also managed St Loman's to the Westmeath county final in 2009, in which the Mullingar side was defeated by Garrycastle.
