Ballinasloe stay in touch with leaders as Skyvalley down Kilkerrin

After a four week break most of the teams from the Roscommon and District league were back in action on Sunday last In the Ruby Oil sponsored Premier division. Leaders Shiven Rovers had a convincing 3-0 win over Loughglynn United away at Loughglynn, while Ballinasloe Town welcomed Liam Lynch back to the side after a year with Longford Town. He scored one of his side's goals in a 3-1 win over third placed Cloonfad United. Darragh Concannon and Shane Mooney added two more with Dave Kenny keeping Cloonfad United in touch until near the end of the game.

Skyvalley Rovers came from a goal down to beat Kilkerrin United 4-1 away at Kilkerrin. With fifteen minutes played in the second half, Keith Mahon was fouled and Declan Murphy gave Kilkerrin a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Damien Blackweir levelled the game and, shortly afterwards, Vinnie Costello got on the end of a corner kick to give Skyvalley a lead. David Grehan and Cormac McDonald added two more to make certain of the win for the Taughmaconnell side.

Moore United ended Castlerea Celtic's faint hopes of a title when they beat them 2-1 at Moore. Mervin Kelly gave Castlerea Celtic a first-half lead and Cathal "g Sullivan levelled the game before the break. In the second half Alan Duffy scored a vital winner for his side.

Dysart had an impressive 3-2 win over Strokestown United away at Strokestown. James Coyne and Mark Higgins scored early for the winners with Conor Silke pulling a goal back for the losers just after half-time. James added his second before Conor Silke pulled a second back with five left to play.

Ballymoe FC continue to lead the Athlone Nissan Division 1 following their 3 - 0 win over Shiven Rovers away at Newbridge. Roscommon Town continue to trail the leader by six points but have two games in hand. They beat Ahascragh United 3-1 at Ahascragh with Owen Hoare scoring twice.

Second placed Rahara Rovers were beaten 2-0 at home in a local derby game against St. John's Athletic. Kevin Curley and Brian Kelly scored for the winners. Ericsson FC and Moylough drew 0-0 at Athlone and the Castlerea Celtic v Glen Celtic game was postponed.

In the Evening Herald sponsored Division 2, KC Celtic continue to lead the table after they beat Cam Celtic 4-1 at Brideswell. Donald O'Connor scored for the losers, with Barry Shea scoring two and Tommie Shea and Mike Coen getting one each for the winners. Second placed Manor United were beaten 2-0 at Lecarrow by C.B. Trotters. Eamon Grady converted a penalty kick and then headed a second to win all three points for his side. Lisnamult Celtic were 4-1 winners over Ballaghaderreen, while Dunmore Town beat Lough Harps 7-1 at Ballinlough.

In the only game played in Division 3, leaders Cloonfad United drew 1-1 away to Skyvalley Rovers. An own goal gave Cloonfad a 1-0 lead with Liam Finneran converting a penalty for the home side. Only a fine penalty save by keeper Pat Mulleady won a point for Skyvalley Rovers.
