Locals brave the cold for GOAL Mile

The organisers of the annual GOAL Mile in Castledaly were delighted with the large turnout for the event on St Stephen's Day, particularly considering the bitterly cold weather and hazardous road conditions.

Event co-ordinator Dermot Walshe thanked everyone who participated on the day.

"Also thanks must go to all who sponsored participants or gave donations. This is worthy cause and in such difficult economic times it is heartwarming to see the true generosity of the Midlands."

"Thanks also to Castledaly GAA who generously offered their facilities again and support the cause annually with their hard work and energy. The newly completed dressing rooms and meeting rooms plus the walking track on which work has already begun are a wonderful reflection on the local GAA club and community. And finally, a reminder that if you have yet to pay your sponsorship, please do so as soon as possible. Thanks so very much again," added Dermot.
