Moate Boxing Club starlet Joe Ward added to his growing collection of honours when he received the IABA Best Junior Boxer award at their Annual Awards night at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel in Dublin last Friday.

Ward, 16, is the reigning AIBA World Junior champion and this award is further recognition of his current standing within Irish boxing.

Also honoured on the night was another member of Moate Boxing Club, Mount Carmel Drive native Gary Molloy, who received a Schoolboy & Cadet International Achievement award.

Ward and Molloy were among 30 individuals honoured at the event, including Kenny Egan, Michael Carruth (Hall of Fame), Katie Taylor and John Joe Nevin.

Ward was also recognised in the shape of a Schoolboy & Cadet International Achievement award along with Molloy, who himself recently helped Ireland to victory over England in a Home International meet in Mayo.

Molloy also captured a National Youth Championship at 51kg at the National Stadium, Dublin, in May.
