Auld Shebeen golfers raise funds

Following their difficulties with the weather over the festive season and beyond, the Auld Shebeen Golf Society hosted the annual Cider Cup charity outing which pitted Moate against Drumraney at the Moate golf club, this time to raise funds for the Baby Caoimhe McCormack fund. The event raised €1,200 and a cheque was presented to Caoimhe"s parents, Matt and Fiona by society captain Paddy Fox at a presentation ceremony in the Auld Shebeen. The golf results are as followed: Overall winner - Dave Aspell; Lady visitor - Teresa Cleary; Male visitor - Willie Grennan; runners up - Paul O"Brien, Tommy Digan, Oliver Seery, Betty Behan. Leading Moate Player - Louis Cunningham; Leading Drumraney Player - Phil Behan. The bragging rights for the year ahead are based in Drumraney after the Drumraney golfers beat their Moate counterparts to retain the Cider Cup. The Auld Shebeen Golf Society would like to thank everyone that participated and supported this fantastic event. They would also like to thank the Moate Golf Club and all the players who participated in the event. Special thanks to secretary Paddy Buckley, Captain Paddy Fox, and President Liam Reynolds for their great organisation. The next outing for Auld Shebeen Golf Society will be on Saturday, April 18 at the Esker Hills Golf and Country Club with tee off time at 12 noon.
