Clonbrusk Disability Centre to be handed over next week

There"s a much needed boost on the way for health facilities in Athlone with the news that the €1.5 million Disability Centre in Clonbrusk is expected to be handed over to the HSE early next week. A HSE spokesperson told the Westmeath Independent this week that the fit-out of the building will then get underway and it should be ready for occupation by the end of June The building will house a day resource centre operated by the Irish Wheelchair Association, as well as a multi-disciplinary team for children with disabilities and offices for a number of voluntary organisations. These include the Multiple Sclerosis Of Ireland, the Irish Wheelchair Association and the National Council for the Blind of Ireland. The services transferring to the new facility are currently ongoing through the Local Health Office, and will remain so until the final relocation, the HSE said. In other health infrastructure news, work on planning permission proposals for the longawaited health campus in Clonbrusk is on target and an application is expected to be lodged with the local authority on May 15 next.
