Moate Community School honours Molloy

At the awards night held in Moate Community School on Thursday last Gary Molloy received a special award for his outstanding achievements in boxing in the past year. Gary started boxing at 11 years of age. He has won eight Leinster titles and has also been Irish national champion on four occasions. On four occasions he has represented his country, winning a bronze medal in a major international tournament in Latvia during the past year. This extensive list of achievements has won for Gary a place in the National Elite Training Programme, the same remarkable training programme which has supported boxers throughout the island of Ireland to bring them to the dizzy heights of success achieved by our Olympic boxers in Beijing last summer. Thanks to his commitment and exceptional skills, Gary is well on the way to achieving his sporting dreams. Great credit is due to his local coach Seamus Dorrington who is now one of the leading amateur boxing trainers in the country. All in Moate hope to be shouting for Gary and his coach, Seamus, in London in 2012. Well done Gary and the very best of luck in your future boxing career!
