Athlone IT to host HSE National Finals

Athletics: Westmeath Community Games A feast of singing, dancing, team and individual competitions is in store for up to two and a half thousand competitors and thousands more spectators who will partake at the HSE National Community Games Finals in the very well equipped Athlone Institute Of Technology. This is a new venture in a new home for Community Games and while there might be some minor hitches, it is hoped that all those attending the finals will be patient with stewards and officials and all will work out for the best and everyone will enjoy a good weekend. Proceedings will get underway on Friday evening with a parade and Area Committees in and around Athlone are asked to provide at least 10 children each for the parade. They should assemble before 4.30pm outside Hotel & Catering Building, AIT. Time Table The following is the complete timetable for all activities on the weekend and all those travelling to the venue are advised to leave in plenty of time for their competitions as they may be hold-ups getting to your parking place and area of competition. Friday 22nd May Projects - Set-up at Nursing & Health Science Building (east campus) between 3pm and 6pm. Parade - Children and adults should assemble at the Hotel & Catering Building at 4.30pm. Buses will take children to Golden Island where they will parade to Civic Offices for official opening and then back to AIT soccer pitch for lighting of bowl of light.
