The key to this season is glamour

This autumn/winter sees a variety of styles, materials and colours on the high street, but the key to it all is 'glamour'. While lush fabrics and the ever steady AW trend of sequins are back for autumn/winter. 2009 sees much more colourful and diverse styles, materials and cuts, with fuschia pinks and turquoise the prominent colours this season, slightly unusual for this time of year. There's a lot more structure to this season's clothes, with a big emphasis on the shoulders, so don't be surprised to see the return of the dreaded shoulder pads! Tights are also big this season, the more diverse the better so you're sure to be seeing plenty of colour and patterns this winter. Bows have been around for a few seasons now, but you're sure to see the use of bows a lot more over the coming months. And of course the military style blazer is back, again in a variety of colours and materials. Other looks that are hot this season include the biker chic look, with leather, buckles, studs and zips bound to make a strong appearance for autumn/winter. One-shoulder dresses are also back, preferably in black, but if you can find it in leather it's a winner as leather is this season's must-have fabric. Of course if a leather dress seems a little too 'out there' for you, you could always opt for a figure-hugging leather jacket for AW09, preferably with zips and studs. A good tip is to watch out for winning versions in PU, which is a synthetic product that can feel and look like genuine leather. Or of course black leather gloves would also make your outfit a winner this season. Tweed is also back, but it's lost its country origin and had undergone an urban makeover and the salt and pepper tweed, or indeed houndstooth check, are must-have for your wardrobe this winter. Boots are back with a bang, but whether you want shoe boots or thigh highs is entirely up to you, as this winter when it comes to boots anything goes. So if you want to show off some trendy tights, then ankle boots area perfect, but anything from knee boots to thigh highs and even higher are also right on-trend this winter.
