Re-seisiun set to compete in All-Ireland talent show semi-final

Local band Re-seisiun will appear in the semi-finals of the All-Ireland Talent Show this Sunday, February 28. The group comprises of Stephen and Patrick Heffernan, from Castledaly, Keith and Liam Flynn, from Garnafailagh and Conor Irwin from The Elms. The lads are currently practising hard for the next round. They have produced a musical arrangement that is sure to have the audience jumping from their seats. Local music teacher James Donohoe commented: "These lads have created a unique and exciting sound. It is constantly evolving and each member of the group contributes greatly to the arrangements." Liam Flynn said this week: "It has been a terrific experience so far. We are really looking forward to the semi-final." Re-seisiun have taken the local music scene by storm and have built a huge fan base around the Midlands, but the lads have taken it all in their stride and are simply enjoying the experience. Last week the band visited Custume Barracks, where they were wished all the best in the upcoming semi-final. Liam told the Westmeath Independent recently that they were very nervous ahead of their first live TV appearance, but once they started playing they were fine. The biggest venue the band had played before playing live on TV was the Irish Entertainment Awards at the Radisson Blu Hotel, where they received an award for Best Upcoming Irish Band. Writing and producing their own material is only one of the many talents of this amazing group. Between them they play acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, piano, flute, low whistles, button accordion, banjo, bozukie and drums. In addition, they all sing and create fascinating vocal harmonies. The band wants to stay together as long as possible and to show everyone what it is capable of. The members have thanked everyone locally who supported them so far and are urging the public to vote for them again in the semi-final this Sunday.Conor is a full-time musician, Liam is studying Business and Religious Education in Tipperary, Stephen is studying in Moate Business College, while Keith is doing his Leaving Cert and Patrick his Junior Cert. "We are proud to represent the East and with your help we can make it to the next round," they said. Stephen and Maria, parents of Stephen and Patrick, said: "It's nice to see something good coming out of all the practice and hard work over the years." Conor's parents Benny and Joan said: "It's great to see such local talent getting this far in a national competition and great credit is due to their supporters."
