Westmeath's Callum McCormack gathers the ball ahead of Carlow's Shane Murphy during the 2012 Leinster U21 FC match. The counties will meet in next year's Leinster SFC.

Westmeath drawn against Carlow while Rossies will face Mayo or Galway

By Kieran Galvin Westmeath have been paired with Carlow in the first round of the 2013 Leinster SFC - with a quarter-final clash against provincial champions Dublin the prize on offer for the winners. Pat Flanagan's Westmeath side will be expected to overcome Carlow and set up a daunting meeting with the Dubs, who are now under new boss Jim Gavin. However, former Kildare star Anthony Rainbow has been recently appointed as Carlow manager and he will probably fancy his chances of pulling off a surprise against Westmeath. Offaly, now under Kinnegad native Emmet McDonnell, will face Kildare in the quarter-finals - with the winners meeting Dublin, Westmeath or Carlow in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Roscommon have been handed a demanding assignment in the 2013 Connacht SFC - a semi-final clash against All-Ireland finalists Mayo or Galway. The Rossies were hammered by Galway in the 2012 Connacht championship but the Tribesmen then suffered a shock defeat to Sligo. Mayo got the better of Sligo in the Connacht final on the way to reaching the All-Ireland final where they were defeated by Donegal. Roscommon are currently without a manager after Des Newton stepped after just one season in charge. Sligo will be fancied to reach the Connacht final again in 2013. The Yeats County have been drawn against London, with the winners meeting Leitrim or New York in the semi-finals. Elsewhere, All-Ireland champions Donegal have been drawn against Tyrone in the most eye-catching pairing in tonight's draws. 2013 Leinster SFC First Round: Wicklow v Longford; Laois v Louth; Westmeath v Carlow.
