Autumn Owls and The Driftwood Manor to perform in the Passionfruit Theatre

Fresh from their music showcase at CMJ in New York, Autumn Owls are touring their new album and are making Athlone a stopping point. The Dublin three-piece of Gary McFarlane (guitar, vocals), Adam Browne (bass) and Will Purtill (drums) will be making a stop in the Midlands after a performance in Galway's Roisin Dubh the night before. 2010 saw the band tour in Italy, Norway, the UK, Canada and the U.S., taking part in festivals such as SXSW in the States as well as Canada's NXNE and CMW. When searching for an expression of the band's sound, it is a mix of The National and Villagers. Autumn Owls recorded their debut full-length album 'Between Buildings, Toward The Sea' in April 2012 with Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine) in Chicago. Support on the night will be from one of Athlone's finest folk artists, Eddie Keenan's monkier 'The Driftwood Manor'. Doors open at 8.30pm on Saturday, November 10. Admission is €10 or €15 with a copy of the new album. Autumn Owls will also be performing a brief in-store acoustic gig at 4pm (or so!) on Saturday, November 10, in the newly opened Wingnut Records located within the Passionfruit Theatre foyer.
